"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden." ~Matthew 5:14

WINTER RETREAT 2024

Location AND TIME

DaySpring Retreat Center, Bradenton, FL

January 4-6, 2024

Background

"Hope grows stronger when we gather." (Eccl. 4:12; Jer. 29:11; Isa. 40:31)

The original Hebrew text of the Bible sources the words "hope" and "cord" from the same root word "qava" (Strong's H6960), meaning to look for, wait, expect, gather, and bind together.

Young adults are uniquely gifted with time and freedom that may never come again in this life. We gather to remind each other that God has great plans for us, in every stage. We gather to empower each other, wherever we may be placed, to live well, stay strong, and dream on. May we dream with the Lord on how we are to thrive in this season, and not waste a single minute.

Director Scott Schumacher

Scott Schumacher gave his life to the Lord in 2010 while involved with Cornerstone Christian Church (CCC).  While at CCC, Scott was heavily involved with evangelism and bible studies, taking his testimony and the gospel to the sidewalks of USF (Matt 28:19).

In 2015, Scott became involved with Hill City Church (HCC), where he currently serves within multiple ministries, such as Married Couples, College Students, and Young Adults bible studies.  He also serves with the Stewardship Ministry, caring for and maintaining church facilities.

Scott has served with the United States Marine Corps Reserves since 2006.  Within his military community, he has been called upon to give multiple ceremonial invocations.  He also serves as the lay leader for his company, which has brought him much joy in providing spiritual wisdom and guidance to many of his fellow military members. His time with the military has brought him to truly appreciate soldierly discipline associated with the Kingdom (Eph 6, 2 Tim 2:3-4).

Scott is currently taking classes with Dallas Baptist University to obtain an Advanced Certificate in Christian Ministry.

He is married to Lianna Schumacher and has two daughters, Zeruiah and Xemirah, and one son, Aramiah.
